The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has officially released NCERT Academic Recruitment 2026 Advertisement No. 177/2026 for the recruitment of 117 Academic Positions including Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Deputy Librarian and Assistant Librarian.

Eligible Indian candidates can apply online through the official NCERT website from 31 January 2026 (10:00 AM) to 20 February 2026 (05:00 PM). The recruitment will be conducted strictly as per UGC / NCERT / Government of India norms.

NCERT Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification

  • Professor: Ph.D. with 10 research publications, 120 research score, and minimum 10 years teaching/research experience OR outstanding professional with Ph.D. and 10 years experience

  • Associate Professor: Ph.D., Master’s degree with 55% marks, 8 years teaching/research experience, minimum 7 publications, research score 75

  • Assistant Professor: Master’s degree with 55% marks + NET/SLET/SET OR Ph.D. as per UGC norms

  • Deputy Librarian: Master’s in Library Science with 8 years experience + Ph.D.

  • Assistant Librarian: Master’s in Library Science with NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D.

 All qualifications must be as per UGC Regulations 2018 (as amended).


Age Limit

  • Age of superannuation and relaxation will be as per UGC / NCERT / Government of India rules

  • Age and category relaxations applicable for SC / ST / OBC (NCL) / EWS / PwBD


NCERT Selection Process 2026

Selection will be conducted in the following stages:

  1. Shortlisting based on Academic Score

  2. Interview

  3. Document Verification

 Final selection will be purely based on interview performance.
